Young Riders Camp 2012

 

This year's Young Riders Camp will be held from Sunday the 5th of August to late afternoon of the 10th August at Wester Gatherleys Farm, nr Dunning, Perthshire by the very kind permission of John & Seonaid Paterson.

This year we are very lucky to have two special days of endurance training from top international EGB rider Beccy Broughton who is also a qualified UKCC endurance coach. Additionally we will have lots of riding out, flatwork lessons, Quadrille, fun activities including non-horse activities like swimming, quizzes and DVDs.
I also have a few new training sessions up my sleeve which I am in the process of booking!!!

For those who haven't been before, all activities are included in the price of £120 as is food, camping and corralling for the horses.

So if you want to come and have fun with other like-minded young riders from all over Scotland, then please book your place using the attached form and deposit of £70 (cheques payable to SERC) by the 30th of April.

Please be aware that spaces are limited and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.

Young Riders & Juniors Camp 2011

The third annual camp will be held on the 10th-15th July at Wester Gatherleys Farm near Perth by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Paterson. Camp begins at 5pm on Sunday allowing you to arrive in the afternoon and get you corrals set up, and finishes at 1pm on Friday which will allow you to get organised if you plan on competing at the Championships too – which I hope you do!!.

There will be corralling for your horse or pony on site as well as space for you to camp.
The theme of this camp is “Moving on up”

Activities planned include a flatwork session with renowned (& fun!) trainer Erik MacKechnie BHSI, , flatwork lessons from UKCC SERC trainers, vettings at rides, and advice on preparing horses for long journeys and ride aftercare. We will also have discussions & practicals on map reading including a map reading ride out, sessions on vet gate/vet hold skills both ridden and for crewing. We will have talks about making the move up to competitive rides, or up to ERs or even up to international levels, depending on which level you are at just now with a guest appearance from the GB YR Team Chef.


To add to the fun and allow you to all get to know each other well, we will also be doing team building activities, BBQ, mounted treasure hunt, swimming, quizzes, DVD night and much more!

The Young Riders Group is open to all young riders and juniors in the club whether pleasure level or gold series - I want to hear from everyone who is 21 and under in the club!
The Young Riders group will consist of a facebook group, email newsletter (hardcopy for anyone without email) and at least one training camp a year. Additionally the members of the group will have access to me as the young riders mentor if they have endurance questions or want advice on training plans etc. Most importantly they will easily be able to connect with and make friends with juniors/young riders in other branches.
